Pierce & Ward updated this 1926 Spanish estate in the foothills above Hollywood, and the work left the original details where they were. The entrance foyer keeps its inlaid wood floors and stenciled ceiling, and the formal living room its hand-painted stone fireplace surround and built-ins.

The main rooms open through French doors to the grounds, the dining room onto the front lawn and the city view beyond it, the kitchen through to an office and family room and out to the patio. Seven bedrooms and five and a half baths across 6,189 square feet, four of the bedrooms upstairs, two of those opening to the pool.

A secure entrance climbs past tiered gardens of espaliered citrus and vegetable boxes to a flat grassy pad in front of the house. From the pool, garden steps lead to a level above it with a wider view still, a tub for ice baths, an outdoor shower, and a barrel sauna.

Above the two-car garage there is a guest apartment with a kitchenette, a bath, and a terrace of its own. The house sits at the end of a private cul-de-sac.
