Marc Appleton designed Villa Cresta, a Tuscan estate on more than four acres in lower Bel Air. It was the home of John Hotchkis, who co-founded Trust Company of the West, and his wife Joan, an arts patron and former Sotheby's vice president.

A main hall in Venetian plaster runs through the house. The living room is built around a 16th-century stone fireplace, and there is a paneled library, a kitchen with a breakfast nook, and a formal dining room. The primary suite sits on the main level with its own garden and hot tub.

Six bedrooms and twelve baths span 14,660 square feet. The lower level holds a gym, a wine cellar, a 1920s-style disco and space for a home theater, and a detached guest house is set up for long stays.

The grounds look over the city to the Pacific. An infinity-edge pool runs along the view, the motor court takes more than 25 cars, and the hillside behind the house is planted with Sangiovese vines.
