Casa Contenta was the Bel Air home of D.D. “Tex” Feldman, a Texas oilman, and his wife Jayne, who filled it with the people of Hollywood’s golden age. Its interiors, by the silent film actor turned designer Tom Douglas, were published in Architectural Digest in 1951. Jayne Feldman died in 2024, and after some seven decades the family is selling.

The estate covers 1.88 acres across three legal lots in lower Bel Air, above the Bel-Air Country Club golf course. Seven structures sit among gardens and lawns: the main house, a pool and guest house, a tennis house with a gym and bar, a two-story staff house, a greenhouse and a garage with a second story. There is a tennis court, a western-themed barbecue terrace and parking for twenty cars.

The main house, built in 1936, holds nine bedrooms, several libraries, a restaurant-style kitchen, a staff wing and a wine cellar. Across the pool, the 2,700 square foot guest house sets three suites above the Copper Room, the Feldmans’ screening room and party space, with its original 35mm projection booth still in place.

It is a house to restore, reimagine or rebuild. The zoning may allow the lots to be divided, which buyers should confirm with the City of Los Angeles.
